School Lunch Ideas

Posted on: September 10, 2009

School Lunch IdeasOne of the best parts of shopping for school supplies is picking out the lunch box that your child will love to tote to school every day.

1- If your child wants the same thing day after day, go ahead and pack it, as long as the overall meal is nutritious and you are sure your child eats it. Kids don’t like a lot of change in what they eat. Did you know that it takes 10 to 12 introductions to a new food before a child is usually willing to even taste it?

2- Send breakfast for lunch – pancakes or French toasts sticks, a bagel, or eggs on an English muffin would also make great, reheatable lunches.

3- Wrap fruits and vegetables in a paper towel to keep them from getting soggy. To keep apple and pear slices from turning brown in your child’s lunchbox without making them too sour for your child, squirt them with pineapple juice or lemonade.

4-If you make your own snack mixes, you can include healthy additions like dried fruits, unsalted nuts, pretzels, and baked crackers. Kids love to munch on something crunchy and sweet or savory.
