Classroom Rules

Posted on: September 23, 2009

It is very important to involve your students in making the classroom rules. Get a construction paper hang it on the board and make your own classroom rules. You can also get volunteers and act them out together. For example: the rule SHARE and take turns, have them act sharing books politely etc…

During the first days of school, the teacher involves his/her students in creating their classroom rules. The teacher poses four questions to his/her students.

1.How do you want me to treat you?

2. How do you want to be treated?

3. How do you think I want to be treated?

4. How should we treat one another where there’s a conflict?

If you choose to break a rule…

1st offense: WARNING!

2nd offense: Silent lunch

3rd offense: The student will get a behavior letter and it will be sent home signed by a parent and returned the following day.

4th offense: child will be sent to the office and a parent conference will be called.
