Yesterday was such an emotional day for us, we were watching a slideshow of all our memories throughout this year, then one of my students started crying. I hugged her tightly and told her you shouldn’t be sad these are happy memories that we will cherish forever. The slideshow included their pictures advice messages from me, our favorite activities, and a goodbye message . I also included music ” Time of Your Life”  by green Day, and “why do all good things come to an end”  by Nelly Furtado. Then I put an LCD projector turned off the lights and watched it on the big screen. Then I will copy this slideshow on a CD for each student to take home with them. Teachers that is a great idea to give your students as a gift.

To my students: I will miss you all dearly, and now it’s time for you to shine and grow. Show the world what you’ve got! We will meet again someday…oneday!

Ok it is true I am a teacher and students have this image of teachers that they loved school well it’s not true I actually hated it! I especially hated chemistry classes because the teacher was just vicious!! Teachers have  a very important role in making you love a subject or hate it! I used to hate school because of the waking up early and I’m not a morning person at all! Although I still do wake up early and for the record I wake up at 5:30 am everyday….yesss that’s the story of my life! Anyway kids dislike school for many reasons:

They are either bullied and someone is bothering them

– They might feel different or worry that you don’t have enough friends

– Sometimes it’s a problem with their classes and schoolwork.

– Or maybe the work is too hard, or they don’t feel as smart as the other kids

– They may be getting farther and farther behind, and it may seem like they’ll never catch up

Parents if you notice this problem with your kid always talk about it to the teacher or the school counselor to let them find out what the problem is.It’s especially important to tell an adult if the problem is that you’re being bullied or someone hurts you physically.

Special help is available if they need it. Try not to let the problems go on too long. It’s easier to catch up on one chapter than the whole book!

I have mentioned in my previous post about the Hannah Montana Obsession at Schools, it turns out Highschool Musical is not so different after all!  Let’s have look at what kids’ stationary look like these days….These photos were taken from my classroom:

D.C School made a transition from feeding their children industrial food filled with artificial substances to freshly prepared, whole foods that are healthy for kids.

They began preparing fresh food from fresh ingredients on site. One recent lunch, for instance, was black bean chicken, jasmine rice, Whole Foods-brand green peas, fresh apple slices tossed with cinnamon and low-fat white milk (chocolate is offered one day a week). The fresh chicken breast comes from a distributor, but it will soon be supplied by a local farmer. All the chicken, garlic, ginger, scallions and black beans that go into the dish are fresh, and we peel and chop everything ourselves.

So how does one get from reheating to fresh cooking?

I’m very happy to see that schools are concerned with the child’s health and taking actions. I wish that schools all around the world would consider this as well..hopefully soon

In order to create jobs and to build up a capacity for producing sustainable architecture it is essential to include local workers in the building process. Training through “learning by doing” should help the local craftsmen to improve the standards and condition of the rural housing in general.

Thick walls assure a comfortable climate on the ground floor of the building. Sunlight and ventilation can be regulated through the use of shutters. The vertical garden façade shades the openings in the walls and protects the natural earthen walls from erosion through rainfall and helps reduce the indoor temperature through evaporation…

I was walking around the playground today and noticed alot of girls eating healthy food and that’s because of the encouragement of teachers and the parents. I hope it will even get better.A healthy balance of foods provides the energy and nourishment everyone needs to survive and to enjoy life.I was happy to see that although there were still a few who were having chips and junk food. uh oh…took some photos check them out:

A few days ago I went back to my old school that I used to teach in 2 years ago. I was so excited to see my students and fellow teachers again. When my students knew I was there they all came running to me and hugging me It’s amazing how much they’ve grown. I was their first grade teacher and some now are in grade 5!!! Oh my I’m getting old .. (not i’m only 26) 😛

Anyway that’s not the point, the point is 2 years ago when I was at that school I used to teach a young girl named Asia. Asia was a Bedouin who did’n’t know how to read or write. She didn’t know one word of English but she was 10. A 10 year old in grade one is pretty strange. So what was she doing at that school? A woman from the school’s adminstration adopted Asia and wanted to send her to school to be just like all the kids at her age.

When she was in my class, she had really bad manners, statements I couldn’t understand, and was aggressive in a way. I understood her situation and tried to help her. I showed her how one should behave.  She never gave up she studied so hard that she became one of my top students in English. And 2 days ago when I went back to my school I asked her what grade she was in now and she said I’m in grade 4. Imagine she skipped a  class  and she is now on the honor list.

I was so happy to see her again she is now a polite student and she always tells me that she will never forget me because I helped her become a better person. See that’s why I love my job.

Teachers are role models to the young generation.

God bless you Asia!
